STOCKPORT BUSINESS INCUBATOR EXPANDING
Following a successful first year Stockport Business Incubator has expanded and now operates 37,000 sq ft of high quality, flexible workspace at Broadstone Mill. The Incubator is now home to 24 businesses and over 100 employees.
2009 has proven to be a successful year for the Stockport Boost funded project which has continued to grow despite the challenging economic conditions.
Interest in Stockport Business Incubator has experienced a steady rise throughout the year, with evidence showing that an incubator is an ideal location for a growing business to be in during a recession due to high survival rates.
Stockport Business Incubator nurtures and develops small businesses with the potential for high growth in a supportive environment. Businesses benefit from ‘easy in easy out’ flexible lease terms and the presence of on site business support and advice.
Through the incubator programme several tenants have successfully secured grants and other funding to assist them in developing their products and services. These include Plasma Clean Limited, a hi-tech spin-out from The University of Manchester, who has been awarded a £113k Grant for Research and Development from the North West Regional Development Agency.
David Glover, Managing Director of Plasma Clean said:, "Receiving this award is a great boost for Plasma Clean and will help to deliver a unique product offering which will present significant benefits to our customers worldwide. We have received lots of support and assistance from all those involved in Stockport Business Incubator and the flexibility of workspace available has helped us to grow our business."
Councillor Dave Goddard, Leader of Stockport Council and Chair of Stockport Business Incubator CIC said “The financial investment from Stockport Boost has really paid off at Stockport Business Incubator. The level of interest and high occupancy rate proves that businesses are recognising the benefits that Stockport Business Incubator provides to growing businesses.”
“We are delighted that we are able to expand the incubator by an additional 25,000 sq ft to allow more small businesses to benefit”
